Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage technique which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of lymph from body tissues. The lymph system depends on contractions of muscles to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodeswhich return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Manual lymph drainage uses a specific amount of pressure (less than 9 ounces per square inch) and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow. MLD is very effective in treating pain associated with swelling particularly with seniors suffering from poor circulation and post surgery conditions. Recovery times can be increased with MLD therapy.
